I was actually about the process of choosing some classical pieces for a nylon-string guitar competition, when I ran into Chopin’s Nocturnes. And I listened to all 21. The Nocturne in F Major (Op. 15 No. 1), stole my heart! It’s lyrical "A Section," followed by a boisterous and intense "B Section," is just plumb beautiful. Now, to my knowledge (which doesn’t always run too deeply) there is not a transcription for guitar of this particular Nocturne. Therefore! I set about the process of transcribing and arranging. The finished arrangement came out in the key of E Major, which lays under the hands perfectly. (To get back to the original [F Major] key, one needs only to snap a capo on the 1st fret.) We filmed this video in the Olin Fine Arts Center at Washington and Jefferson College. Big thanks to both Maureen Valentine and C. Daniel Shaw for letting us use the facility. It was awesome! Now the interest here is that we filmed this video on the same day that we shot Pachelbel’s Canon [   • Pachelbel’s Canon (Classical/Pop Guitar) [...  ]—which was actually our main shoot for the day.
