50 stone herring and sprats. Traditional Norfolk drift netting. Boat sea fishing for food & bait

Well my dad went to sea gain, there was a good northerly swell on Caister beach, so he drove the tractor to Great Yarmouth, and launched in the lee of the land. He shot 10 2" herring nets, and a seine net for sprats. There wasnt many sprats, as they are now leaving this coast, but they were a good size, the best this year. The herring shoals have now started to thicken up. There was plenty of herring marks on the fish finder and plotter unit, so only one fleet of nets were put over. No point in catching loads of herring for poor money. As my father would say, 'anyone can catch a dollop of herring and get nothing for them'. They soon hauled, and came back to his place to clean the nets.
