30 Minute Writing Challenge to Music | Write What the Music Makes You Feel | Writing Activity

Step into The Old European Library for a creative writing challenge unlike your usual writing prompt. Settle at the desk in a grand, sunlit European library, gather your writing materials, and listen as Josef Suk’s Serenade, Op. 6, performed by A Far Cry, fills the room. For the next 30 minutes, there is no assigned character, setting, plot, or subject. Instead, let the music become your writing prompt. As the music changes, follow it. Allow shifts in tone, rhythm, pacing, and emotion to influence where your writing goes. You may begin in one place and end somewhere completely unexpected. That’s the challenge. ✍️ DIRECTIONS Begin with a blank page. As the music changes, let your writing change with it. Let your writing follow along and change with the tone, the rhythm, the emotion of the song. Don’t overthink it or rewrite it. Just let the music guide your writing. Prepare. Write a story, scene, a memory, or anything else that the music inspires. Remember, there is no wrong direction. Get your writing materials ready. Ready? Begin. 📝 USE THE CHALLENGE YOUR WAY You don’t have to complete the entire challenge to use this video. Teachers, students, homeschoolers, and writers can use shorter sections of the music for quick writes, bell work, brainstorming, creative writing warm-ups, journaling, story development, character exploration, writer’s block, or lessons exploring tone, mood, pacing, rhythm, and emotion.
