Father John Corapi..."Number '624' of the Catechism teaches us that by the Grace of God, Jesus tasted death, He really tasted death for everyone. In His Plan of Salvation, God ordained that his Son should not only die for our sins but He should also taste death, experience the condition of death, separation of the soul from His body between the time He expired on the Cross and the time He was raised from the dead. Now Jesus the Son of God through His human nature really experienced death. Someone always asks, 'Well if Jesus died on the Cross and Jesus is God.. then God is dead?' No.. God isn't dead.. He's not even sick! But it is proper to say that the Son of God did through His human nature, experience death on the Cross. You know that's why we can never say.. 'Oh God doesn't understand what I suffer, God doesn't understand the death of my loved ones'... Oh God does understand, from the inside out, because you see you and I haven't experienced death, but He has.
