We Couldn’t Believe We Were Actually in Kabul 🇦🇫

We finally made it to Kabul, Afghanistan — and honestly, it was nothing like we expected. After entering Afghanistan and making it safely to the capital, we spent our first proper day exploring Kabul. We sat in a café eating cake and drinking coffee, wandered through the streets, met incredibly friendly people, sorted out a local SIM card, searched for motorcycle mirrors, explored shops and supermarkets, and even ended up filming with a German TV crew near one of the huge Taliban flags. The more time we spent walking around Kabul, the more normal everything started to feel. The city was very different from the picture we had built in our heads from years of news coverage. But the next morning, we left Kabul at 4am and headed south towards Kandahar — and the journey quickly became something very different. The road deteriorated from tarmac to dirt and sand, a road closure left us without an obvious route, and eventually we found ourselves following local vehicles through tiny roads that weren't even on our navigation.
