On October 1, 2026, the Higher Regional Court in Frankfurt (OLG Frankfurt am Main, 11 U 2/26) ruled that a songwriter's own lyrics stay protected even though the music was made with Suno, after the company behind 2 copies of her song argued the lyrics were AI-written and lost on sworn statements about her raw draft. I explain what that means for copyright on AI songs: the difference between the composition and the recording, the US Copyright Office's position on AI-generated material, and ASCAP, BMI and SOCAN accepting registrations of partially AI-generated songs since October 28, 2025. On October 25, SBS Inkigayo aired a stage by RŌSIEN, an AI agent artist whose "Tiga Tiga" is credited to songwriters Hong Jin-woo and Nam Ji-hoon, with an "AI" tag on screen; I look at how the stage appears to have been made, the comments and how its views compare with IVE, BABYMONSTER and the other acts. I also preview the SIQA Summit on November 12 and the first SIQA AI Music Awards on November 13 at The Mayan in Los Angeles. Grian Chatten told the Los Angeles Times that Fontaines D.C., XL and their management weren't told about AI in the "Marianne" video, and the band will ban it by contract; Olivia Rodrigo's "expectations" video faced AI claims the same month. Spotify said on October 20 that it took more than 50 million slop and spam tracks out of recommendations and deleted more than 75 million spammy tracks, explained its 1,000-stream royalty threshold and AI Persona badges, and Believe and TuneCore joined its AI covers and remixes tool with a 2-step opt-in. Suno's October 20 answer to Universal and Sony's v6 lawsuit admits it has not deleted all the recordings it trained on, Reservoir sued Suno over 1,050 songs and Anthropic over 853 lyrics for up to $337.8 million on October 21, and I explain what Suno's terms let it do with your songs and voice.
