The long awaited Ford Transit E-Custom has finally arrived! Ford have been putting their PRO range on centre stage recently; realeasing many new vehicles some of which are electrified like the E-Custom. I checked out the new generation diesel Custom lat year, the van had a total transformation, with the new SYNC4 system, lower height, better efficiency, safety & more! Currently the E-Custom can be had in the standard 'Trend' trim or the higher-spec (as tested) 'Limited' specification. 'Trail' trim has stopped production for the foreseeable future, and the 'Sport' spec isn't currently on the UK configurator. A 64kWh useable battery pack gives an official range of up to 203 miles WLTP. Ford was ahead of the curve when unveiling the E-Custom a couple of years ago, but as it has just arrived, more competitors are on the way soon. The KIA PV5 will be a ground-up built EV van which will take on the Custom. For those seeking something sportier, the MS-RT version adds a unique bodykit, wheel & a 282PS motor, whilst utilising the same 64kWh battery. The ID.Buzz may seem like an obvious competitor, however with Ford & VW's alliance, the new E-Transporter has arrived based on the E-custom, which will be sold alongside the Buzz. The E-Custom maintains much of the original Custom's practicality, with only a slightly reduced payload & a decent towing capacity of up to 2.3 tonnes.
