I Tried to Map What Pangaea Actually Looked Like

Everyone knows the outline of Pangaea, that supercontinent puzzle piece shape from science class. But nobody ever draws the actual geography. Where were the mountains? The deserts? The rainforests? So I tried to figure it out myself. This video walks through my attempt to reconstruct what Pangaea looked like at one specific moment, roughly 200 million years ago at the Triassic-Jurassic boundary. I placed the mountain ranges by tracing the oldest ones we still have today (the Appalachians, the Scottish Highlands, and the Anti-Atlas of Morocco were once a single chain as tall as the Himalayas). Then I worked out the ocean currents and that massive seasonal monsoon that would have shaped everything. Finally I used all of that to figure out where forests and deserts would have been. I'm being upfront about my assumptions here because I genuinely want to know what I got wrong. If you know something about paleoclimate or ancient geography that contradicts any of this, please tell me. There's a better method involving plant fossils that could refine this whole thing, but that's not a one person job. Maybe we can do a follow up if enough people weigh in.
