Porto, Portugal Metro System - 1993 saw the start of planning and construction of the first expansion phase of the Porto Metro. This first phase was deemed completed in 2006. Having a semi-metro alignment, it runs underground in central Porto and above ground into the city's suburbs while using low-floor tram vehicles.
