Wish I had the computer program to fix all this. Was able to fix some of the shakiness in this old 1986 video of the Waltz from my SCENES DE BALLET that I made for the Teatro Colon. Still very fuzzy but one can see the patterns. Yes... it's very "Balanchine," but when I saw SLEEPING BEAUTY and RAYMONDA with the Bolshoi at the Bolshoi Theater, and SWAN LAKE with the Mariinsky at their theater in St. Petersburg, I realized how much Mr. B had lifted from Petipa. I knew his RAYMONDA VARIATIONS also used a lot of Petipa's original choreography, but never knew it included some actual steps and even patterns. So, I feel pretty vindicated by using some of Mr. B's patterns as a sort of template. I didn't rip-off any actual steps because classical ballet steps are used over and over again in sometimes the same sequence by many choreographers, including Balanchine. A pique arabesque is always a "pique arabesque." The leads are Silvia Bazilis and Raul Candal, and they had a lot of dancing ahead so I made this pretty easy on them. the 24 little girls were led by Paloma Herrera, when she was 10 yrs-old, so that was a nice coincidence. Having this many dancers was a luxury, but also a challenge.
