[KO-WORKERS] Traditional Paper📃| Ep.10 Hanji

Hello everyone!🤎 We present to you the 10th episode of our original VOD series, KO-WORKERS! 👨🏻‍🤝‍👨🏻 In our 10th episode, Irene goes to Goesan, a city that is located in the Chungcheongbuk-do region of Korea. She travels there to experience the process of creating Hanji, the traditional paper of Korea!📃 Irene’s KO-Worker for the day is Ahn Chi Yong, the Hanji master. Irene experiences the full package, starting off with removing weeds around the mulberry bushes. Mulberry is the key ingredient to creating Hanji. Therefore, it’s necessary to remove the weeds to eliminate competition for nutrients, allowing the mulberry to grow! The bark is then removed in order to create Hanji. Then from the bark, impurities must be removed, then pounded with on a stone board. Irene had quite some difficulties with the next step, where the fiber is dissolved in water and the layers of paper are skimmed out with a paper mold and blind. Lastly, the process is complete after the paper is dried thoroughly. Join Irene as she works her way through the entire process of creating Hanji, taught by the master himself.
