On Sunday, September 27, 2026, the 17th edition of the Power Pulling event took place in Castelminio di Resana (Treviso). Having filmed many previous editions—the first dating back to 2017—I always return to this competition ground with pleasure. This year, however, was different; the passing of Stefano Tonin, the driving force behind this event, left a deep mark on all of us and was a profound loss for his family and friends. In his memory, everyone made a special effort to attend, making it, to my recollection, the best-attended edition in terms of both the audience and the tractor pullers. As last year, the final round of the Italian Cup for the "Garden & Mini Pulling" category—part of the Italian tractor pulling championship—was held here. It was a highly competitive, standalone event, separate from the championship itself. The Power Pulling Castelminio event is part of the "Festa della Poenta" (Polenta Festival) and has earned a well-deserved reputation over the years as one of the best competitions of its kind in Italy. The Emilian team "Speed Pulling Racing Italia ASD" provided the pulling sled, which specializes in the Speed/Fast/Power Pulling discipline, while the Italian Cup competition used the official ATPI (Associazione Tractor Pulling Italia) sled and its accompanying staff. The goal is to reach the finish line—set at either 70 or 100 meters, depending on the category—in the shortest time possible, as it falls under the "fast pulling" format. In standard tractor pulling, by contrast, the objective is to cover the greatest possible distance, regardless of the time taken. Each sled is ballasted according to the power of the competing vehicles. "Fast pulling" uses two sleds: a smaller 1,400 kg unit—typically carrying 400–500 kg of additional ballast—and a larger 6,200 kg unit, loaded with 1,200–1,300 kg or more, designed to slow down the most powerful tractors. In addition, two smaller sleds, nicknamed "Puffetta" (Smurfette) and "Paperina" (Daisy Duck), suit vehicles with smaller engine displacements and lower power outputs. With each participant getting a couple of attempts, the event continued into the evening, building in both spectacle and excitement. I would like to thank the organizers for their warm welcome and hospitality, and for allowing me to film within the competition area. Enjoy! 😉
Buona visione! 😉
