Alcatraz (ATZ) "Odyssey" - The Amiga Demo, Reborn! (2008) (1/2)

by Mat Recardo, music by Chris Crusher Rendered 3D animation remake of the classic Commodore Amiga 500 (ECS) demo "Odyssey" by the demogroup Alcatraz, which won the Amiga democompetition at The Party 1991 demoparty on December 28, 1991 in Denmark. This remake is complete, but compressed down to 20 minutes, from close to 40-45 minutes of the original 5 floppy disks long Amiga Original. They did good with this, because the original gets kind of boring and repetive. The original demo from 1991 caused single-handedly that virtually all future demo partys from that point on forward would have a running-time limit for all demo productions presented at a party in the demo compo. Here is a 33 minutes capture of the original demo, which has everything important except for the end scrollers and greetings etc. http://video.google.com/videoplay?doc... . You can also find it hacked into 4-5 pieces here at YouTube. I had to cut the remake into two pieces due to the time limites imposed by Google/YouTube. That is probably also the reason why Mat himself was publishing his production at Vimeo.com. You can watch it there in one piece if you like at http://vimeo.com/2132538 For more information about the original Amiga production by Alcatraz (ATZ) and to download the Amiga executables, check out the dedicated page for the demo at http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=398 Credits for the Amiga Production Code: Hornet Graphics: PGCS Music: Greg Sound Effects: Zoltar You can download the full 19 minutes video in AVI format, but unfortunately only 504x284 pixels resolution (84 MB in size) at http://www.mediafire.com/?dz4mzhkzyo2 Cheers!
