The Afghanistan-Pakistan conflict has entered a dangerous new phase. Pakistan says its latest airstrikes targeted militant camps in Helmand and Kunar and killed 22 fighters. Kabul says the strikes hit homes and killed nine civilians, including women and children. The claims cannot yet be independently verified. But the rhetoric is escalating. An Afghan Taliban minister has warned that Kabul could raise its flag in Peshawar within two days. Islamabad has replied that its restraint should not be mistaken for weakness. Pakistan blames Afghanistan for allowing Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan militants to operate from its territory. The Taliban government denies the charge and accuses Pakistan of violating Afghan sovereignty. With mediation efforts failing and border fighting continuing, the threat of a wider conflict is becoming harder to dismiss. The question is whether either side can control the escalation.

AXIS is where the world is explained through India’s lens. For decades, global narratives have been shaped by Western media... told through Washington, London or Beijing. But as India rises as a major economic, military and diplomatic power, why should others define the world for us? Why shouldn’t India shape its own voice, own perspective, and own narrative? That’s where AXIS comes in. We decode global power shifts, wars and conflicts, the India-China rivalry, Pakistan, West Asia, oil shocks, trade battles and neighbourhood politics - with one key question: What does this mean for India and for you? As India rises, so should its share of voice!
