Prof. Ramasubbu Sankararamakrishnan is a highly acclaimed computational biologist and professor in the Department of Biological Sciences and Bioengineering (BSBE) at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. He is widely recognized for his pioneering research on membrane proteins, structural bioinformatics, and protein-protein interactions. He received his Ph.D. degree at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, and pursued postdoctoral training at the University of Oxford and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He was a faculty at Mount Sinai Medical School, New York before joining IIT-Kanpur as one of the founding faculty members of the newly established BSBE department in 2002. He has headed the BSBE Department for two terms and is a recipient of the prestigious National Bioscience Award for Career Development (2008) and IIT Kanpur's Distinguished Teacher Award (2023).
