New England Bobcats Can Be Much Bigger Than Most People Realize - Especially in Winter

New England bobcats can look far bigger than most people expect, especially in the middle of winter. In this video, we look at why mature male bobcats in northern New England can appear unusually large, how body size varies across their range, and how dense winter fur, snow, camera perspective, prey availability, and regional conditions can completely change the way these cats look. We also explore why some large bobcats are mistaken for mountain lions or Canada lynx, what actually separates these species, and why the short tail, body proportions, feet, and coat can matter more than a dramatic size estimate from a photo.
