SABONA – WHERE THREE COUNTRIES MEET, AND THE HEART OF THE KALAHARI WELCOMES YOU🇧🇼 🇿🇦 There are places you visit, places you photograph, and then there are places that become part of your story forever. SABONA, at Union’s End, is one of those extraordinary places. Standing at the meeting point of Namibia, Botswana and South Africa, you cannot help but feel the significance of where you are. Three countries, three borders, one remarkable corner of Africa, surrounded by the vastness and raw beauty of the Kalahari. It is remote, quiet and wonderfully untouched by the rush of the modern world. Reaching this special place is an adventure in itself. Access to Union’s End on the Namibian side is through Farm Lendepas, making the journey every bit as memorable as the destination. This is not a place you simply stumble upon. It takes planning, the right route and the privilege of being welcomed into the world of the people who call this remote part of the Kalahari home. And that is where the real magic begins. Our heartfelt thanks go to Vonkie from Farm Lendepas, whose hospitality reminded us once again that the greatest treasures of the Kalahari are often its people. We were invited into their home for a braai and to watch rugby together. An ordinary evening for some, perhaps, but an extraordinary memory for us. Good food, rugby, laughter and genuine Namibian hospitality — the kind of experience that makes you feel less like a visitor and more like an old friend. We were also privileged to camp high on a red dune overlooking the dry Nossob River. As the sun dipped towards the horizon, the landscape transformed into a canvas of deep reds, golden grasses and long shadows. The silence was immense, broken only by the sounds of nature and the gentle breeze across the dunes. There is something humbling about camping in a place like this. No crowds, no city lights, no rush to get anywhere. Just you, your camp, the vast African sky and the feeling that you are part of something much bigger than yourself. These are the moments that remind us why we travel. From Union’s End, our journey continued towards Auob Lodge, where another wonderful chapter of Kalahari hospitality awaited us. We were treated to a beautiful campsite, a memorable game drive, sundowners in the African bush and a delicious supper. After the remoteness of Union’s End, it was a special pleasure to relax, share stories and reflect on the incredible experiences of the days behind us. And yet, it is difficult to separate the beauty of the landscape from the generosity of the people who live here. The red dunes are magnificent, the dry riverbeds tell stories of a harsh and ancient land, and the sunsets are unforgettable. But it is the people, with their open homes, open hearts and willingness to share what they have, who give this region its soul. The Kalahari teaches you that hospitality is not measured by luxury, but by generosity. That a braai shared with strangers can become a lifelong memory. That a campsite on a lonely dune can be worth more than the finest hotel. And that the privilege of being welcomed into someone's home is something never to be taken for granted. As we continued our journey, we carried with us far more than photographs and GPS tracks. We carried memories of a remarkable place, the kindness of Vonkie and the people of Farm Lendepas, the magic of camping beside the Nossob River, and the warm welcome at Auob Lodge. The red dune Kalahari of Namibia is more than a destination. It is a feeling, a connection and a reminder of what makes travelling through Africa so special. Long after the dust has settled on our vehicles and this tour has become a memory, the beauty of the red dunes and the warmth of its people will remain with us. Some journeys end when you arrive home. Others stay with you forever. ❤️ SABONA – Union’s End to Auob Lodge. A journey through the heart of the Kalahari that we will treasure for a very long time. #TransAfricaTours #UnionEnd #Sabona #FarmLendepas #AuobLodge #Namibia #RedDuneKalahari #NossobRiver #KalahariHospitality #OverlandingAfrica #ExploreNamibia #AfricaWithHeart
