The leaves turn shades of red and orange, while berries and mushrooms begin to appear throughout the woods. For the fairies, it marks the beginning of the long-awaited autumn harvest. They flutter all through the forest, searching for wild berries and acorns. With their wings shimmering behind them, they make their way through the undergrowth, cheering whenever they find something new. They gather as much as they can, laughing as they compare their treasures to see who has collected more. Before long, they become caught up in chasing each other through the forest, while their gathered harvest grows into a little mound upon the fallen leaves. Both are out of breath, yet neither can stop laughing. “Shall we rest for a while?” As though the thought comes to them at the same time, the two settle down among the fallen leaves. They have gathered so much, played so much, and laughed so much. Beneath the warm, dappled sunlight, they gently sink into a bed of autumn leaves. Still holding the little treasures they gathered, their eyelids slowly grow heavy. Soft sunlight wraps around them, lulling them into a peaceful sleep.
