Stitch with me: thread painting a realistic kingfisher | Relaxing embroidery

Hello all! Apologies for the delay posting; I've been away on holiday, but I'm back and excited to share this new piece with you. Today's video features the stunning common kingfisher. It is perhaps one of the UK's most beautiful birds, they're always a delight to see. A kingfisher was always one of the top birds I wanted to embroider, and I finally thought it was time to push myself and give it a go. You'll see in the video that it wasn't exactly easy-going. I found picking the colours particularly difficult, and I kept changing my mind as I went. Overall though, I'm over the moon with the finished piece, now I just need to find somewhere to hang it. Thank you for stopping by :-) The embroidery thread used was DMC 6-stranded embroidery floss, which I used one thread at a time. The piece was completed using long and short stitches, otherwise known as thread painting. I used size 10 John James embroidery needles. I used a 4" Elbesee hoop while embroidering, and displayed the finished work in a Nurge 4" embroidery hoop.
