Every young person’s pathway beyond school looks different. For Whitefriars Old Collegian Matt King, finding the right next step meant creating a pathway that recognised his individual strengths, interests and aspirations. During his time at Whitefriars, Matt worked closely with College staff to explore what life beyond school could look like for him. Rather than following a predetermined route, the focus was on finding opportunities that suited the person he was and the future he wanted to build. In this video, Matt reflects on his journey and the support that helped him take those important first steps beyond Whitefriars. His story is a reminder of what can happen when a young person is known, supported and given an opportunity — and why connections between our students, Old Collegians, employers and wider community matter.
