TENERE 700: Leaving the MABDR Behind — Stage 18 to Inuvik 6-11-26

The push toward Inuvik continues — but this stage came with a hard choice. In Stage 18, I ride the Yamaha Ténéré 700 "the blue rhino" through the final miles of the Mid-Atlantic Backcountry Discovery Route (MABDR): more forest roads, rocky climbs, and ridge-top views before this leg of the BDR comes to a close for good. Right around here, the route splits. The MABDR's last two stages swing west — but my road east, back to my family, meant leaving those miles behind for another trip. This is the stage where I said goodbye to the MABDR and pointed the front wheel toward the Catskills of upstate New York, the next checkpoint on the long road to the Arctic. Expect technical terrain putting the T7's suspension and rally-inspired handling to the test, one of the toughest decisions of the trip so far, and that bittersweet feeling of closing one chapter of off-road riding to keep the bigger goal alive: Inuvik.
