Started the morning in heavy fog and rain, bracing myself for a miserable, rain-soaked hike. But the moment I unzipped my jacket, I realized it wasn't rain—it was a mid-May miracle. Snow beat down on my face, leaving everything in a blur of white. It was exhausting and messy, but absolutely breathtaking 📌 Camino Walk Summary Stage: Camino Francés | Day 23 Route: Foncebadón ➔ Ponferrada Distance: Approximately 28 km Terrain: Shortly after departure, you will reach the Cruz de Ferro (Iron Cross), the most spiritually significant landmark on the Camino, where pilgrims traditionally leave a stone brought from home. What follows is a long, notoriously steep, and rocky descent dropping over 1,000 meters in elevation—a true test for your knees.
