Leila walked into her parents' house with a sense of trepidation. It had been months since she had last seen them, and she wasn't sure what to expect. As she entered the living room, she was greeted by the sight of her father sitting in his favorite armchair, his face contorted in anger. "Leila, where have you been?" he bellowed, his voice echoing off the walls. Leila's heart sank. She had been dreading this moment. She took a deep breath and replied, "I've been busy with work, Dad. I'm sorry I haven't been able to visit sooner." Her father's anger seemed to deepen at her answer. "Work? Work is more important than your family, is it?" he spat. Leila could feel the tension in the air, and she knew she had to tread carefully. "No, Dad, that's not what I meant," she said, trying to keep her voice calm. "I just had a lot on my plate, and I lost track of time. I promise I'll make more of an effort to visit in the future." Her father's expression softened slightly at her words, but the anger still burned in his eyes. Leila could see the hurt underlying his outburst, and she felt a pang of guilt in her chest. She knew she had let her parents down, and she resolved to make it up to them. "I'm sorry, Dad," she said, taking a step closer to him. "I love you, and I miss you both. Let's spend some time together today, just the three of us. What do you say?" Her father hesitated for a moment, then nodded. Leila's heart lifted at the small victory. She knew that repairing the rift between them wouldn't happen overnight, but she was determined to try. As they sat down to tea together, Leila felt a sense of peace settle over them. The tension had dissipated, and she could see the love in her parents' eyes. In that moment, Leila knew that no matter how far apart they may sometimes seem, their family bond would always bring them back together.
