Testing the Future of Mining | Battery-Electric Prototypes by Fortescue & XCMG

The future of mining is taking shape. Together with XCMG, Fortescue’s first battery-electric water cart, wheel loader and dozer prototypes are now undergoing factory testing in China ahead of their arrival in the Pilbara later this year. These first machines off the production line mark the beginning of Fortescue’s battery-electric fleet rollout through 2027, supporting our Real Zero strategy to eliminate fossil fuels from our iron ore operations in Australia by 2030.
