General consensus says this is one of the hardest achievements in the entire Age of Empires II campaign, especially after the Return of Rome update.
And I must say, that is kinda true....
I think if you are just gunning for the achievement, playing on an easier difficulty or using a slower game speed is definitely the way to go. Otherwise, I still highly recommend playing this scenario on Hard difficulty as an excellent way to practice your micro.
After the last scenario, fighting against that 200 pop Roman army, you definitely do not want another go at that in the late game, so your timing here is extremely crucial. At the very least, you have to attack the Romans and the Visigoths at the exact same time, or you are going to have a rough time playing through this scenario.
Your initial goal is to completely deny all of your enemies from building a Castle. You can choose to ignore the Alans if you are having a hard time managing three separate fronts at once. The Alans are your weakest enemy. Even if you let them take their time to build their economy and army, they still won't pose much of a challenge against you later on.
The Romans and Visigoths, though...
The Visigoths, while they don't seem that annoying at first, will rain down an endless amount of infantry units if you let them flourish. This is extremely bad for you if you are trying to lean heavily into cavalry, so deny them from building Castles and Barracks as much as you can.
The Romans are Romans. They have two Town Centers, a much stronger initial army, and they upgrade their units pretty quickly if you give them too much time. This should be your main focus. Constantly deny them from building a Castle and drag their army away from your raiding forces to make your time in their base much easier.
If you can handle three fronts at once, your initial Tarkans should immediately head toward the Alans, as they only start with a few Men-at-Arms that your army can easily take down. At the same time, send one or two Tarkans up north toward the Romans to deny any attempts at building a Castle. Before you start aiming at their villagers, use your scout to bait their army away. Hit any of their buildings to let them chase your scout, then drag them all over the map. Alternatively, you can let the Ostrogoths handle them by leading your scout directly to your ally's base. There is a high chance your ally will get defeated by the Roman starting army if you do this, but it lets you successfully wipe out the main Roman base while they are distracted!
For the Visigoths, you want to immediately build several Stables and rush Knights directly into their base. Again, you want to kite their army around while also denying them from building a Castle. Time is extremely tight. If you miss your timing, by the time you reach the Visigoths, there is a strong possibility they will have already finished constructing their Castle, making your attempt at taking them down way harder.
This is an incredibly fun scenario, but the next one is just as time-sensitive. I am really excited for the finale!
💡 Tip of the day:
Mastering your hotkeys is the "key" (pun intended) to managing a chaotic, multi-front rush! When executing a tight strategy like denying three bases at once, utilize control groups and global selection keys to keep your focus locked on the frontline. Bind your raiding squads to different unit control groups so you can double-tap the number keys or use the space bar to jump your camera instantly between fights. At the exact same time, use your global "Select All Stables" hotkeys to constantly queue up reinforcement units from across the map without ever having to sacrifice your micro!
