159 Year Old Abandoned Country Club Turned Into a Secret Fortress

It was a collapsed 1867s stone ruin swallowed by heavy ivy and a stagnant algae lake. Now it is a dark moody secret fortress with its own glowing thermal grotto. When taking on this kind of massive property makeover, the sheer weight of the original materials dictates the pace. Before any luxury interior design could begin, the structural repair required clearing tons of rotting roof beams and collapsed masonry from the Grand Hall just to expose the monumental six-meter terracotta fireplace. We wanted this building restoration to feel anchored in history, leaning into raw textures like blackened walnut, aged copper, and beautiful Moroccan zellige tiles in the underground hidden Hammam. The most intense phase of the mansion renovation happened in the old cart garage, transforming a damp ruin into a striking thermal grotto lined with illuminated onyx stone.
