In March 1975, sisters Sheila and Katherine Lyon left their home in Kensington, Maryland, for an ordinary afternoon at Wheaton Plaza.
They never came home.
For decades, investigators searched for answers. A mysterious witness description, a second police sketch that was never released to the public, and a connection to Lloyd Lee Welch eventually helped reopen the case nearly 40 years later.
In 2017, Welch pleaded guilty to the murders of both sisters.
But the conviction did not answer every question.
Sheila and Katherine’s remains have never been recovered, and important questions about what happened to them and where they were taken remain unanswered.
In this video, CrimeCase Ledger examines the Lyon Sisters case, the evidence that brought the investigation back to life, the sketch that remained hidden for decades, and what is still unknown today.
