Julio Torres-Recinos Book Launch

Join Julio Torres-Recinos for the launch of his poetry book, Largo y Tendido. Largo y tendido (At Great Length) is a book of thirty-seven poems in Spanish that spring from the observations of daily life. Thus, winter appears along with rain, snow, wind, birds, and other animals in well-crafted poems with an original versification and treatment. It’s through observation and imagination that Torres-Recinos achieves images and metaphors that transcend, crafting lyrical poetry to comment on and confront this world and time. Julio Torres-Recinos writes poetry and short stories. He has published several books of poetry and a book of short-stories. He has given poetry recitals in many countries such as Spain, Germany, Italy, the United States, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, El Salvador, and Australia. In 1992, he won the First Poetry Prize in a competition organized by the Spanish Cultural Celebration in Toronto, Ontario and has been a finalist in several literary competitions. He is Professor of Spanish at the University of Saskatchewan.
