It's a beautiful day for gaming, neighbours!
Today we're stepping up to the plate with one of the wildest, most colourful and surprisingly rare arcade beat-'em-ups of the 1990s — **Ninja Baseball Bat Man**, released by Irem in 1993!
We're playing the *complete arcade game from beginning to end, with no cheats enabled**, taking control of the blue-suited **Stick Straw* as we battle our way through a wonderfully bizarre baseball-themed adventure.
Four baseball superheroes are tasked with recovering stolen treasures from the Baseball Hall of Fame. Naturally, that means fighting everything from living baseballs and gloves to strange mechanical enemies and enormous bosses!
But there's a fascinating story behind this forgotten arcade gem.
⚾ One of the Rarest Arcade Games of Its Era
Originally conceived by American designer **Drew Maniscalco**, Ninja Baseball Bat Man was developed by Irem and released into arcades in 1993.
Despite its incredible artwork, outrageous characters and four-player cooperative gameplay, the game struggled commercially.
According to Maniscalco, only **1,042 arcade units were sold worldwide**, including just **43 in the domestic North American market**.
That's right — a game that would eventually become a cult favourite was almost completely overlooked during its original release!
The game's development history is equally fascinating. Early concepts included a Mario-style platforming adventure, just two baseball heroes, and plans for a possible home-console adaptation.
Instead, the finished game became a colourful, chaotic, four-player arcade brawler that has earned a dedicated following among retro gaming fans.
🎮 Our Full Arcade Playthrough
We're taking on the original 1993 Irem arcade release.
Complete game from start to finish
Playing as Stick Straw, the blue baseball ninja
No cheats enabled
Original arcade action, enemies and bosses
A look back at the game's development history through on-screen trivia
We're not speedrunners, and we certainly don't claim to be arcade experts. We're simply a dad working through decades of gaming history, one game at a time.
⚾ A Second Inning Is Coming!
The legacy continues with **Ninja Baseball League-Man: Bases Loaded**, a modern revival of the cult arcade classic announced for December 10, 2026.
It's a great time to revisit the original and discover why so many retro gamers still celebrate this wonderfully unusual Irem release.
