His fifth son, Tajima no Kami Munenori, became the Shihan (swordmaster) of the Shogun’s family, and his own son, the famous Jubei Mitsuyoshi, retained the title after him. Their lineage kept the title generation after generation until the end of the Bakufu (1869). The eldest of Yagyu Sekishusai’s sons had a son of his own called Yagyu Toshitoshi. He served the “Owari” branch of the Tokugawa family as Shihan, and his own son Renya Toshikane took the lead after him, and so on for generations. The former branch, initiated by Yagyu Munenori, is called the “Edo Yagyu”, while the latter, initiated by Yagyu Hyogonosuke Toshitoshi, Munetoshi’s grandson, is known as the “Owari Yagyu”. The school presented here focuses on the “Owari” branch of Yagyu, transmitted to the present master by Otsubo Shiho, who was the assistant under master Toshichika (13th generation) and master Toshinaga (14th generation) and currently headed by Kajitsuka Yasushi. -- CREDITS -- Footage by Seido Co., Ltd.: https://www.seidoshop.com (en) http://www.seidoshop.jp (jp) http://blog.seidoshop.com (en) http://www.budoexport.com (fr) -- MUSIC -- All This by Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) CC 3.0
