HAITIAN CREOLE 101: LESSON 2

Haitian Creole is one of Haiti's two official languages alongside French, and is the most widely spoken Creole language in the world. With well over 15 million speakers, including million in the country of Haiti alone, as well as diasporic enclaves of speaker in the South America, the United States, Canada, Africa, and in sum, worldwide, Haitian Creole is quickly becoming an increasingly important language as its continues to spread across across the globe. The Panafrican and Indigenous Language Initiative is a student-based group created to meet the demand for language instruction for languages such as Haitian Creole, Sierra Leone's Krio language and Swahili. Founded in 2011, the initiative has already made a significant impact in the lives of students and staff, and seeks to continue moving forward through 2014 and Beyond.
