This video is an individual student entry for the HCPC Student Competition 2025 on the theme of speaking up and raising concerns. The presentation explores the importance of raising concerns in healthcare, using the SPEAK UP model as a practical tool to guide students and professionals in building confidence when speaking up. It highlights why raising concerns is essential for safe and ethical practice, introduces strategies to prepare what to say, and demonstrates how to communicate concerns in a professional and supportive way. Throughout the session, interactive elements such as case discussions, a Padlet activity, and a Kahoot quiz are included to engage learners. These activities are designed to encourage reflection, collaboration, and application of HCPC standards in real-world practice. This video has been designed for flexible use: ➡️ Classroom video playback – with pauses at activity slides for group participation. ➡️ Independent home learning – learners can pause the video themselves to complete the activities and access interactive elements via QR codes. By the end of the session, learners will understand how to recognise and act on concerns in practice. They will be familiar with the SPEAK UP framework and how it supports safe and professional decision-making. They will also reflect on common barriers to raising concerns and explore strategies to overcome them, ultimately feeling more confident in using their voice to protect patients, colleagues, and themselves. This entry has been designed to be anonymous, focusing solely on the educational content and its relevance to the competition theme. 📌 Disclaimer: The SPEAK UP model presented here is an independent student design created for the purpose of this competition.
