Ishikawa Prefectural Route 34 is a major regional road connecting Noto Town and Anamizu Town in Hōsu District, Ishikawa Prefecture. While National Route 249 runs along the mountainous side, Prefectural Road 34 follows a route that largely hugs the coastline of Toyama Bay (Uchiura). Running near the former site of the Noto Railway Noto Line, it is known as a scenic driving route where travelers can enjoy views of tranquil fishing villages in the Oku-Noto region, beautiful seascapes, and traditional structures known as bora-machi yagura (mullet-watching towers) right from their car windows. I drove the entire length of the road from its terminus to its starting point. The area suffered tsunami damage during the Noto Peninsula Earthquake on January 1, 2024, and scars from the disaster remain visible in many places.
