WALKING FROM… TO…

Join us for a new walk through the heart of Kinshasa, from the Notre-Dame area to the Cité des Anciens Combattants.
Our journey begins on Avenue Zamba, a place that many residents call the “Latin Quarter,” particularly because of the neighborhood’s historical ties to Koffi Olomidé’s family.
From avenue to avenue, we discover a new road currently under construction. It is intended to connect Avenue de l’École, formerly known as Avenue Cataractes, to the Matadi Road, along the Gramalic axis.
We also pass through the famous Niangwe ya Cité, known for its bars, lively atmosphere and popular character. The area is now marked by extensive demolitions of houses, shops and other structures, reflecting the urban transformations taking place in Kinshasa. These operations are changing the neighborhood’s landscape and affecting the daily lives of many residents, while also paving the way for new developments.
Between history, memories, everyday life, construction sites, demolitions and the evolution of neighborhoods, this walk offers an authentic look at the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Discover Kinshasa from a different perspective, through its streets, its residents and the changes shaping the city.
📍 Starting point: Avenue Zamba, Notre-Dame area
