On the night of February 14, 1982, a wave broke a single window in the ballast control room of the Ocean Ranger, a giant drilling rig working on the Grand Banks off Newfoundland. The men aboard had hours to save her. By morning the rig was gone, and all 84 men were lost.
In this documentary we follow the chain of small failures that turned one broken window into one of the worst offshore disasters in history, from the water on the control panel to the lifeboat that reached a rescue ship, and what the Royal Commission found afterward.
