Don't Throw Away Your Broken Phone! Turn It Into This

Don't throw away your broken phone just yet. When the display of this smartphone broke, it looked like the end of the device. But the CPU, GPU, memory, battery, and USB-C port were still fully functional. That got me thinking: Could a broken smartphone become a dedicated retro gaming machine? In this project, I designed and built a custom handheld enclosure, added active cooling, solved a few unexpected hardware challenges, and compared the performance against a stock smartphone to see if the modifications actually make a difference. The result surprised me. And this is only Part 1.
