After their summer break, Parliament in Ottawa resumed Monday and saw Prime Minister Mark Carney facing off against Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre during Question Period for the first time in three months. In opening statements, Poilievre spoke out about Sunday’s shooting near a synagogue in Belleville, Ont., where an officer was injured and the suspect was shot down and hospitalized. Furthermore, Poilievre asked Carney to join him in “offering prayers and love for this courageous constable [and] support for the Jewish community." "We stand against all forms of violence, all forms of hate, and may this House continue to come together to support the Jewish community in Canada and all Canadians to live their full lives," Carney replied. Formally welcoming the prime minister back to Parliament, Poilievre dove right into the cost of living for Canadians, saying, “the message of Conservatives is that we will fight to save you money,” while the Liberals are “driving up your cost of living.” In response, Carney promised that the “government will continue to work without fail to improve affordability,” to which Poilievre said, he is “absolutely out of touch, and Canadians are absolutely out of money.” Carney also spoke on the “three wars affecting Canadians,” saying that prices going up at the gas pumps is caused by “the tariff war from the Americans, the war against Iran [and] the war against Ukraine.” For more info, please go to https://globalnews.ca/news/12066812/h...
