How high can a building really go before gravity, wind, elevators, and human biology take over? I climb from a real kilometer-high project to the thought experiment of a 10-kilometer tower.
I examine Jeddah Tower, the Burj Khalifa, elevator limits, wind-induced motion, pressure, water systems, fire evacuation, foundations, construction logistics, and the shrinking usable space inside supertall buildings.
At the top, I separate what we can build today from what might be possible with future technology—and explain why a 10-kilometer tower would be less like a skyscraper and more like an engineered mountain.
