You can burn hundreds in fuel without a single dramatic failure. Sometimes it is slime on the bottom. Sometimes it is the prop, the vent, the thermostat, or a sensor feeding the engine bad data. In this video, I walk through the fifteen fuel-economy killers I wrote on outboard warranty work orders more than anything else over thirty-four years in the trade. I cover what each problem looks like on the water, what the manual or service bulletin says about it, and what a yard typically charges to put it right. We get into hull fouling, overloading, trim, idle speed, clogged vents, spark plugs, filters, air intake restriction, damaged props, wrong prop pitch, stuck-open thermostats, injector problems, stale fuel, bad sensors, and the compression loss that turns a fuel problem into a powerhead decision. If your boat suddenly lost speed, started burning more fuel at the same throttle, or just feels heavy and wrong on plane, this is the checklist I would want in my hand before paying another bill. Tell me in the comments what engine you are running and what fuel issue showed up first. #BoatMaintenance #OutboardEngine #FuelEconomy #MarineRepair #BoatingTips #Propeller #OutboardMaintenance
