The Fishermen of Padstow - Jim Jarratt 2013

In 2009, my friend, oral historian and folk singer Trevor Sharpe, contacted me along with other singer songwriters of his acquaintance, to ask us if we could produce any songs about the Padstow Lifeboat, for which he is a great enthusiast and supporter. Apparently asking about 'lifeboat songs' he found to his dismay that while many boats around Cornwall have songs and verses appertaining to them, Padstow had none. Subsequent events have remedied this and now the Padstow Boat has more songs about it than any! 'The Fishermen of Padstow' was one of two songs I managed to produce, and now at last, it appears on YouTube. The Padstow Mayday images in this video were all taken in 1980, when I was down there for the May with Trevor and Dave Hughes who both appear in the video. 'Oss! Oss!' Jim Jarratt 2013
