There are only three metro lines in downtown Budapest. The riverside suburban railway is frequently used. Buses or trams cover the rest of the city. A 24‑hour day pass or monthly ticket works well for inner‑city travel, which is very convenient. Attractions: Fisherman’s Bastion & Matthias Church, Buda Castle, Gellért Hill, Liberty Bridge, Great Market Hall, New York Café, Central Café, and major art galleries. About Lake Balaton & Tihany Town Transportation: Take Metro Line 2 in Budapest, then board a train to Balatonfüred (2nd‑class seat, approx. 2.5 hours). From Balatonfüred, take a bus to Tihany.posta (cash or card accepted). Walk downhill from Tihany.posta to Hajókikötő ferry terminal (20‑minute walk to the lakeside). Attractions: Tihany Abbey on the hilltop, lakeside scenery and local farmland. About Eger Old Town Transportation: Trains depart hourly from Budapest Keleti Station; the journey takes around 2 hours. Attractions: Eger Castle, Eger Cathedral, Beatles Museum and Szépasszony‑völgy (Valley of the Beautiful Women). About Szentendre Transportation: Take the metro to Batthyány tér Station. Buy a round‑trip ticket for Szentendre (1800 HUF) at the ticket counter and take the H5 suburban train. Get off at Békásmegyer, then transfer to a bus heading for Szentendre.
