¿Cuál es el Costo Real de las Devoluciones en Amazon?

that Amazon return actually go—and who pays for everything that happens next?
Inside Amazon’s reverse logistics network, returned products may be inspected, tested, returned to saleable inventory when eligible, resold as used, liquidated, donated, or recycled. Some eligible FBA returns can also be graded and resold for independent sellers. The surprising part is that a second sale doesn’t automatically mean a profit: shipping, inspection, processing fees, and lower resale prices can wipe out the remaining margin.
The scale is documented. In its 2024 sustainability reporting, Amazon said its ReCommerce services helped independent sellers in the United States and Europe resell or donate nearly 391 million items. That is not the total number of customer returns. Amazon also reported more than €2 billion in second-hand product sales across Europe and the UK in 2024—sales, not profit from returned goods. In September 2026, Amazon Spain stated that customers had saved more than €30 million buying second-hand products on Amazon during 2025.
In this business documentary, we follow a returned coffee machine to explain how Amazon returns work, what happens inside return centers, why products lose resale value, how Amazon Resale and FBA Grade and Resell fit into the system, and why some low-value refunds may not require the item to be shipped back. Most importantly, we examine the hidden business trade-off: why easy returns can build customer trust even when individual returns lose money.
The coffee machine and its prices are an illustrative financial example, not Amazon’s internal transaction data. Program availability, fees, refund rules, and return outcomes vary by item, seller, marketplace, and reason for return.
