Mukai, a mysterious member of the secret organization Those from the Past, appears to test the tournament winners before the dawn of a "new age." Possessing immense supernatural abilities and the power to manipulate stone, he serves as the final boss of KOF 2003 and marks the beginning of one of the series' most intriguing storylines. Adelheid Bernstein, son of the infamous Rugal Bernstein, stands in sharp contrast to his father. An honorable and disciplined martial artist, Adelheid values fair competition and sportsmanship while forging his own identity apart from the Bernstein legacy. Alongside his sister Rose, he expands the world of KOF through a parallel storyline connected to the Ash Saga. KUSANAGI is a clone based on Kyo Kusanagi, created solely for battle. Driven by an insatiable desire to test his strength against worthy opponents, he inherits Kyo's legendary pyrokinetic fighting style while developing his own identity.
