He was born in Balkh (in modern-day Afghanistan) and later settled in Konya, Anatolia (Türkiye), where he spent most of his life.At the heart of Rumi's philosophy is unconditional love, unity, and compassion that transcends religion, race, and background. His famous invitation, "Come, come, whoever you are," welcomes all seekers of truth. His masterwork, the Masnavi, is widely considered one of the greatest pieces of mystical literature ever written. After his death, his followers founded the Mevlevi Order, famous for the uplifting ceremony of the Whirling Dervishes.
