Ruane Family Story

Meet the Ruane family, Laura, Declan and their 11-year-old daughter, Kiah. Together, they navigate daily life as Kiah lives with a range of complex illnesses. In this moving video, Laura shares what life looks like for their family and the difference having a children’s hospice closer to home would make. We are incredibly grateful to the Ruane family for sharing their story and for their ongoing support of Sunflower Children’s Hospice. The Sunflower Children's Hospice will provide specialist paediatric palliative care for children and young adults with life-limiting illnesses, supporting families across Ireland’s Western Seaboard. As the first children’s hospice outside Dublin, it will bring vital care, support and respite closer to home — when families need it most.
