What really happened to Amelia Earhart? On 2 July 1937 her last radio calls said she was close to Howland Island and low on fuel. Then she and navigator Fred Noonan vanished. This October a Purdue University expedition sails to Nikumaroro to examine a strange object in the lagoon. Before they report back, we test the evidence ourselves: the Itasca radio logs, the radio calls heard after she disappeared, the 1940 bones, more than 10,000 pages of newly released government files, and three theories. At the end, we give our verdict.
