Udupi’s Sri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations are known for colourful and unique costumes, but Ravi Katapadi has turned this tradition into a medium of humanitarian service. This year, Ravi stepped out in a special ‘Merman’ costume on the morning of Ashtami to raise funds for the treatment of children suffering from serious illnesses. Over the past 10 years, Ravi Katapadi and his team have raised ₹1.85 crore through their fundraising campaign and supported the treatment of 204 children. This year, the team aims to raise at least ₹15 lakh and take the total assistance to ₹2 crore. The funds will be used to support children undergoing treatment for cancer and heart-related illnesses.
