I Ain't Your Errand Boy | 1960's Soul Archives

Raw 1960s-inspired hard soul for rain-lit rooms, factory gates and the moment a working man refuses to trade his name for comfort. Eighteen original studio recordings bring urgent rhythm and blues to stories of rent pressure, betrayal, loyalty and hard-won self-respect. Hard live backbeat and tambourine strike through warm electric bass, stabbing Hammond organ, clipped tremolo guitar, honking tenor saxophone and tight brass punches. A single raspy male lead stays close to the microphone, pushing each confrontation from a wet apartment floor to a market aisle, garage bay and boxing gym. Analog tube saturation and mono vinyl-era grit keep the edges warm but forceful, with stop-time turns built for a nocturnal drive, focused late-night work or a quiet reckoning after the city has gone still. The pulse is direct: no polish, no crowd noise—just drums, brass and a voice holding its ground. Across nine working-class songs and their alternate recordings, these stories choose family, dignity and clear boundaries over easy exits. From “My Brother Sleeps Here” to “Throw Your Own Fight,” every track is newly created original music with an early-1960s hard-soul atmosphere; no archival provenance, artist affiliation or endorsement is implied. 00:00 My Brother Sleeps Here 04:47 Leave My Sunday Whole 09:11 I Won't Leave This Block 13:34 One Dry Corner 17:52 I Ain't Your Errand Boy 22:09 Fix Your Own Flat Tire 26:45 Take That Fourth Cup Down 31:32 That Stiff Collar Ain't Mine 36:02 Throw Your Own Fight 40:40 My Brother Sleeps Here (Version 2) 45:01 Leave My Sunday Whole (Version 2) 49:26 I Won't Leave This Block (Version 2) 53:57 One Dry Corner (Version 2) 58:13 I Ain't Your Errand Boy (Version 2) 01:02:10 Fix Your Own Flat Tire (Version 2) 01:06:59 Take That Fourth Cup Down (Version 2) 01:11:47 That Stiff Collar Ain't Mine (Version 2) 01:16:10 Throw Your Own Fight (Version 2) #HardSoul #1960sSoul #RhythmAndBlues #LateNightListening #HammondOrgan
