Wind category describes sustained wind; it does not describe every hurricane hazard. LAND-FALL UPDATE: NHC reported landfall near Destin at approximately 8:30 PM CDT on October 9, 2026, with maximum sustained winds of 105 mph—Category 2. The earlier forecast segment in this presentation was recorded using NHC Advisory 13, issued at 4 PM CDT, when Isaias was Category 3. Forecast conditions and the later landfall observation are distinct.
