Moving to Canada from Nigeria can come with some unexpected surprises. From driving and Canadian weather to winter tires, summer daylight, banking, cannabis being sold openly, and the friendliness of Manitobans, these are 10 of the biggest culture shocks after moving to Canada that I personally experienced. As a Nigerian who moved to Canada and now lives in Winnipeg, Manitoba, I'm sharing my personal Canadian culture vs Nigerian culture experiences to help newcomers understand some of the differences they may notice when adjusting to life in Canada. In this video, I share my experience with: • Driving rules and getting used to driving in Canada • Taking the Canadian driving test and learning new driving habits • Canadian weather, snow, winter tires, and preparing for winter • The surprising amount of daylight during Canadian summer • Seeing cannabis sold openly in Canada • Support and benefits available for families and children • How friendly and helpful Manitobans can be • Canadian social boundaries and everyday interactions • Banking and getting a credit card as a newcomer • Some of the systems and structures that surprised me after moving to Canada If you're considering moving to Canada from Nigeria, preparing for immigration, or simply curious about life in Canada as a Nigerian, I hope my experience gives you a realistic perspective on some of the cultural differences you may encounter. Every newcomer's experience is different, and these are based on my own journey—not a description of every Canadian or Nigerian experience. Have you experienced a culture shock after moving to another country? Share your experience in the comments. Your story could help someone else preparing for their own move. Don't forget to like, subscribe, and share this video with someone planning their Canadian journey. I hope sharing my experience helps other newcomers feel more prepared and gives them a better understanding of what life in Canada can be like. --------------------------------------------- YouTube Chapters 00:00 — 10 Biggest Culture Shocks After Moving to Canada 00:48 — #1 Driving in Canada vs Nigeria 02:30 — #2 The Canadian Driving Test 03:30 — #3 Canadian Winter Weather and Snow 04:55 — #4 Summer Daylight in Canada 05:45 — #5 Cannabis Sold Openly in Canada 06:45 — #6 Support for Families and Children 07:40 — #7 How Friendly Manitobans Are 09:30 — #8 Winter Tires and Getting Stuck in Snow 10:50 — #9 Canadian Friendliness and Personal Boundaries 11:35 — #10 Banking and Credit Cards as a Newcomer 13:20 — What I Wish Newcomers Knew 14:05 — Final Thoughts on Moving to Canada 14:28 — Subscribe for More Canada Content -------------------------------------------- You can also Watch this Informative Playlists: 1.
